Why You Should Keep Tailoring Your Health Coverage

“The only sensible person is my tailor. He measures me anew each time he sees me.”

—George Bernard Shaw

Medical coverage is not one size fits all. Your age, state of health, lifestyle, geographic location and financial situation are some of the factors involved in deciding which supplemental policies you might need to fill in the gaps, since Medicare doesn’t pay for premiums, deductibles, coinsurance and various services including care outside the US.

Annual changes in Medicare can make decision-making even trickier, compounded by health, money and relationship changes in your own life. Here are three things not to do:

• Assume you have no options

• Assume your health will stay the same

• Stick your head in the sand

What can you do? More than 13 million people are enrolled in Medicare Supplement Insurance, also known as MedSup or MediGap, to help cover what Medicare doesn’t. Ask about MedSup policies available through your association and AMBA. AMBA agents are specially trained to help you choose the plan that best fits your needs and budget.

Missed the most recent Medicare enrollment period? You may be eligible for a complimentary benefits review that comes with your association membership. It doesn’t matter how recent your last review was. Like Shaw’s tailor, we’ll be sure to measure you anew.
